Django 3000
Gypsy swing with the devil's violins
The legendary jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt lent his name to the Bavarian gypsies of DJANGO 3000, who have made the slogan “Scheiß da nix, dann feid da nix” – “Don’t give a damn? Then don’t mind!” – their band and life motto. Since 2011, the clever Bavarians have been mixing driving Balkan beats with earthy guitar rock, laid-back gypsy swing and devilish guitar solos. The unmistakable result is bursting with infectious energy and works just as well in its Upper Bavarian home of Chiemgau as it does in India, Russia or even South Korea.
It’s impossible to forget a DJANGO 3000 concert in a hurry because it’s rarely quite so wild and loud. Anyone who can’t let loose or dance away can only be suffering from a chronic hip condition. After all, the best is often saved for last: the Djangos will bring this year’s Tanzcafé Arlberg Music Festival to a close. As a parting gift, the crowd will undoubtedly ride home on the crest of a euphoric wave.
