Sporty combination of indie, funk, rock and soul

While a nation experienced an almost insurmountable trauma, an entire generation beyond the border found inspiration. “I werd narrisch (I’m going crazy),” the commentator screamed, as Austria knocked out Germany from the World Cup in 1978 in Argentina – only to be eliminated themselves. In the confusion of these emotions lies Cordoba – or rather, the newcomer band CORDOBA78.

The five musicians from Vorarlberg may not be particularly interested in football, but their music hits the mark: they sing about themes that make us cheer, while also evoking pain, only to dispel it with lyrics and melodies.

Musically, it’s a cocktail of (indie) funk, rock, soul, and pop, garnished with jazz. Live: A stadium without hate, filled with fan chants to shout along to, dance to, and fall in love with. It’s an emotionally charged body of work well worth experiencing!
